week 1 results
lying in bed on sunday night i asked myself, "self? here we go again. why kasey? the new ford engine? the good practice? the "car to beat" today? why didn't you start bowyer or harvick? did you think kasey was just clever enough to win? you knew there would be a wreck and that daytona was like throwing a dart? why do you get so angry? you have a little baby in the house now, you shouldn't yell like that over a stupid car race."
"you know what you should do? make it simple. you finished dead last last year, remember? you clearly don't know what you're doing. you know who DOES? winners. yeah, that's right...winners. like Luzr2win. in fact, here's a GENIUS plan. for the next 9 months, don't even think about who to start. just copy exactly what Luzr2win did last year. every driver. every race. the only exception you'll have to make is for week 1....unless by some fluke he started kasey in daytona last year....well, goodnight self."
and guess what? that IS who Luzr2win started last year in race 1. kasey kahne! i'm a fucking genius. a FUCKING GENIUS! that means matt kenseth next sunday. this is going to be sooooo easy now. brilliant!

rules for 2010
here is the preferred way to submit your pick:
email note2goodman@yahoo.com
if you cannot access email, call 908.892.4492 and leave a voicemail. this is my mobile number.
commissioner: scott goodman
rules committee
george bunca: hoganshero206@hotmail.com
chris nealon: docbeef@hotmail.com
for the 2010 season:
$200 per team
send money to:
scott goodman
207 hogan court
asbury, nj 08802
# of teams: 14
favored team this year: Luzr2win Motorsports
most likely to finish 4th: Chonk Motorsports
turns out that the commissioner's fee is waived + $100 administrative fee....that's a pretty sweet deal...total admin costs: $300
let's do some math, with 14 teams:
(200 * 14) - 300 = $2500
it breaks down like this:
1st place: $1400
2nd place: $600
3rd place: $300
bonus: $200
so whoever has the most points over the last 10 races wins the bonus $200.
here are the rules:
1. each week, pick a driver
2. you can't pick the same driver more than twice in a season
3. your selection must be emailed to me at note2goodman@yahoo.com or called in at 908.892.4492 before the SCHEDULED green flag. if you do not call in your pick in time, you get a big fat 0 points. also, if you're a jackass and start the same driver more than once, another big fat 0 for you. also, let's say your traveling....and you don't have access to email, or you don't have my cell number, then call one of your raycin cronies and have them email or call me. just like before, i will NOT be tracking down pix prior to race time.
4. if NASCAR takes away points from a driver due to an infraction that affected the car's performance, that any team that started that driver will have the same points deducted from his driver. if NASCAR takes away point to a driver due to an infraction that did NOT affect the car's performance (e.g. cursing, bumping another driver in the pit, etc), any team that started that driver will NOT have points deducted.
5. total points will be the same as total points awarded as the sprint cup point system.
6. at the end of the season, whoever has the most points wins the amounts posted above.
7. rules committee members are there to answer any questions you have. or, feel free to use the feedback button on the main page.
8. all future communications will be handled through this site.

last to first...
sometimes a name is just a name. other times, it's a mantra. Luzr2win wins the 2009 nascar league.
after the 2008 season, tim howarth said to his wife, "honey, i don't think i'm going to do this stupid nascar league next year." his wife responded, "what nascar league?"
tim spent the winter months of the 2008-2009 debating whether to piss away another 200 bucks. he decided to pull the trigger and give it another shot.
2009 started much like the 2008 season left off. a 29th place finish by kasey kahne. however, in week 2, a win by kenseth started his climb to the top of the leaderboard. he spent much of the spring in 2nd place, but by may, he had a stronghold on 1st place. he spent MONTHS in first, looking impenetrable, until chonk and Doctor Beef made some short cameos in the coveted #1 spot.
it came down to homestead, like it always does. 44 points back from DB, a hamlin in his back pocket, and chonk on his heels, he went into sunday with his fingers crossed and beer in hand. cheers erupted from the howarth household when juan pablo montoya took out DB's tony stewart. he needed hamlin to hang on, and he did. chonk's burton finished 2nd, the best he could have done, however 4 points short of 2nd place for chonk....always a nascar bridesmaid, and never the bride.
as for the truck, he has silently set himself up to do as Luzr2win did last year, lose to win.

some accounting:
Luzr2win: $1400
doc beef: $600
chonk motorsports: $300
a-game racing: $200
fat penguin (from rusty truck): $100
congrats to those in the money. please send me your addresses (except chonk) and i'll send you your checks. talk to you in late january.....go rangers!
