it's over

it's over....finally.  skidmarks dominates like it was 2005.  congratulations!

here is the money situation:
- skidmarks wins $1400 for first place
- high speed pursuit wins $600 for second place
- chonk motorsports wins $250 for worst place with no DQs
- there was a 3-way tie for the most unique finishes under 35:  doc beef, jakwagin, and fat penguin all take home $33.33
- chonk motorsports wins $50 for most 43rd place finishes (1, with tiebreaker)
- skidmarks wins $200 for last 10 race bonus

send me your addresses/paypal accounts where i can send the dough and i'll talk to you all in late january.  happy thanksgiving, xmas, holiday, new year's, and all that crap.

skidmarks wins!

it's over, statistically.  skidmarks has won the 2011 nascar league, repeating his 2005 performance of domination.

he will take home $1400.

the 2nd place prize of $600 is still up for grabs.  unless high speed pursuit really shits the bed in the final race, it belongs to him.  but hey, engine failure, wreck, you never know...there are three teams within reach.

chonk has all but secured the $250 for last place, but statistically, shepard could still win it.

the $100 for the 35 action is quite interesting.  there are 3 teams tied.  it's anyone's to win in the final week.

chonk has secured the $50 for the most 43rd finishes (1), and has the 42nd place tiebreakers secure.

the $200 bonus is still very much in play, realistically, for three teams.  good luck to them in miami.

also, the conditional formatting in the spreadsheet got screwed up for a couple teams, so don't trust the yellow boxes for starting a team twice.  with only 1 week to go, i'll worry about it in february.

good luck too everyone in the final race!

it's getting tight...

that's what he said...

well well well....we have some very interesting developments brewing with 4 weeks to go.  first and foremost, i'm petitioning the league to test skidmarks for illegal substances...7 top 10s in the last 8 weeks, and he is getting close to mathematically locking in the first place spot.

now, the fight for that 2nd place spot is getting interesting.  asleep at the wheel jumps 3 spots this week to pull within 4 points of the eat my dust, who has only had 1 top 10 in the last 7 weeks and is trying to limp home into that 2nd place spot.

doc beef and piston pumpin', who both apparently still think it's 2005 with their earnhardt picks, are slowly sliding, but definitely not out of it.

as for the bottom of the league, why chonk would choose casey mears over say kevin conway or jj yeley is beyond me.  but with yours truly and that shepard both picking nemecheck, shepard has actually made it interesting in the "go low" part of this league, pulling within 28...

as for the bonus money, it's VERY tight.  3 teams within 3 points at the top with 4 to go.

two more teams eliminated from the 35 action, while chonk still hold the lead in the 43 action.

good luck to all in the coming weeks...

michigan

fucking biffle. just when i suspected skidmarks would shit the bed, so does the 16 car. i should have just started keselowski like my gut told me to.

in basement news, sheperd racing scores a big 2 against chonk's 3 to not only put another point between the two of them in the standings, but also tie rasta racing in the 43 action.

doc beef, who was also cursing out biffle, picks up another spot in the 35 action to take the lead with 13 to go.

fucking ambrose

my strategy backfired...but that's okay, i like to get my nose bloody every now and then. plus, i needed a 27th place finish anyway in the sweet 35 action, for which i currently tied for first, so i've always got that going for me.

some cellar developments. chonk made the switch this week and is now going low. a TJ bell start got him a 37th place finish, beating shepard's andy lally pick (which beat my tony stewart pick by 6 spots).

chonk is now only 4 points away from passing shepard for the low spot.

meanwhile, who would have thought that rasta racin's 42nd place finish in week 1 would hold this long in the 43 action, but it has.

14 to go boys...this is the week that skidmarks shit the bed...i can feel it.

a shift in strategy

well shepard racing is officially the first to pull the trigger to go low by starting jason white (who?...exactly). however, a 33rd place finish is not what he was expecting...still earning him 11 points (a decision has been made to award owner's points, not sprint cup points for ineligible drivers).

it makes things very interesting at the bottom. graziano racing is ineligible to go low due to his DQ, so right now, shepard is looking to lock in $250 on last place AND trying to pick up some 43rds on the way for another $50 AND can still win the 35 action as well....you never know. good luck to shepard, despite his liking of those boston blow sox...

brick-yaaaarrrrrd

bad news for rasta racing...sometimes vacations cause you to forget to submit a pick....another DQ for the league, the 3rd in 4 weeks.

keep in mind, graziano motorsports and now rasta racing are not eligible to "go low" and must now fight there way out of the cellar to be in the money. it actually presents an interesting scenario for kiss the wall, shepard, and chonk....who will be the first to make their move with only 16 weeks left....

we shall see.
