well, as always, it came down to homestead.  shepard was able to hold on to a 20 point margin of victory.

also, on a sad note, after 6 years of running this league, i have decided to step down as commissioner.  i certainly hope that somebody else is willing to step up and take the reigns.  i can send you the spreadsheet tracker and walk you through everything.  it would just be nice to be a participant again...

well, well, well....here we go.

winner

it's officially shepard against fat penguin....stewart against hamlin.  the good news for FP is that he avoided picking the same driver as shepard.  the bad news is that steward finished 19th.  going into homestead, shepard can guarantee a win with a finish of 15th or better.

what if shepard and fat penguin tie?

good question.  if, for some reason, shepard and fat penguin end with the same number of points, then the tiebreaker goes to whoever had the most wins.  the funny thing is, they both had 6 wins.  the next tiebreaker is number of 2nd place finishes, which goes to fat penguin.

3rd place

there is no 3rd place prize.  now, there are several team that DO have a shot at the 2nd place, but they would need fat penguin's most likely hamlin pick to make a sharp right turn in lap 1.

worst combined points with no DQs

barring a seizure or some freak accident, that will go to yours truly.  in fact, just to be extra safe, i'm submitting a just-in-case pick right now of dale earnhardt jr.  that, of course, will most likely change before sunday.

35 action

$100 on the line here, and we are in a 3-way tie among asleep at the wheel, piston pumpin, and skidmarks.  will they use a little strategy in the final race to go after the extra cash? we shall see.

43 action

i've never worked so hard for 50 bucks, and i only have 1 chance left to get it.  my boy timmy hill, who i've never heard of, finished 29th yesterday.  meanwhile, doc beef landed an accidental 43rd place finish with his truex pick.  will doc beef go after another 43rd place finish for the extra cash?  eat my dust, rusty truck, and doc beef all have one 43rd place finish, but EMD has two 42nds, vs. RT's one.  

bonus round

EMD has a 13 point lead with 1 to go.  piston pumpin' and shepard still have a shot, but they need some help.

shepard and the penguin come away with big #2 picks.  with two races to go, i think we are realistically down to 6 contenders.  the bonus is still up for grabs....

i'm gonna say that if you are not within 50 points of the lead with 3 to go, you are out of it....not statistically of course, but piston and graziano are probably longshots at this point....

sheperd is holding on by a pube with fat penguin scoring 48 this week...doc beef is right behind him.

not asleep at the wheel

wow...with 4 weeks to go, a rough week all around.  only bottom-dwellers rasta racing and graziano were able to pick a top 5 driver....meanwhile, asleep at the wheel takes advantage with the bowyer pick to launch up to the #2 spot...just 9 points behind shepard.

realistically, still a lot of people with a chance left, as yours truly continues his search for just one more 43rd place finish...
